The 9 Best Canned Cocktails of 2025
This is not a comprehensive list of everything we tested in previous iterations of this guide, just what’s still available.
The overwhelming majority of Tip Top cocktails we tasted were excellent, and of the many brands we tried, it was a reliable favorite. Tip Top’s Paper Plane and Naked & Famous were two standouts, but we excluded them from our picks, as they were limited releases when we sampled them. They’ve since joined the brand’s full-time lineup, though, so we plan on retesting them in the near future. But not all of the brand’s drinks made the cut in our brand-concealed taste test, including Tip Top’s Cosmopolitan, Negroni, Bee’s Knees, Jungle Bird, Mai Tai, and Gin Martini. In some cases, we had more-complex and better-balanced picks in our roster (such as the St. Agrestis Negroni). Other times, the drink didn’t quite translate well into a canned cocktail format (such as the Gin Martini).
We tried Horschstader’s Slow & Low Coffee Old Fashioned and found it eye-wateringly acrid and off-putting.
Straightaway cocktails were highly recommended by many vetted sources, but despite trying a variety of the flavors, such as the Paloma, Oregon Old Fashioned, and Margarita, we consistently preferred Tip Top’s drinks for their higher-quality and fresher-tasting ingredients.
Similarly, we tried Post Meridiem’s Margarita, Cosmopolitan, and Old Fashioned, and we found that when it came to fresher citrus and less tinny flavors, our Tip Top Margarita and Old Fashioned picks were stronger contenders.
Fisher’s Island Lemonade tasted of low-quality vodka—one taster noted a “gasoline” aftertaste—and of artificial lemon flavoring.
Of the many Cutwater cocktails we tried (Espresso Martini, Whiskey Sour, Vodka Mule, and Lime Margarita), we found that many of its cans couldn’t compete with the top-shelf liquor and ingredients of our picks. Many tasted flat, watery, or stale.
We tried Social Hour’s Whiskey Mule, Navy Strength Gin & Tonic, Yuzu Sunset Fizz, and Black Pepper Paloma, but many of the brand’s flavors came across as soapy to our testers, and not as clean and discernible as those from our picks.
Dry Fly’s canned Bloody Mary was watery and strangely sweet for a savory cocktail. One taster also noted an unpleasant “rotten fruit” note.
Austin Cocktails’s Sparkling Margarita, Sparkling Mojito, and Sparkling Ruby Red were unexpectedly minerally and heavy compared with our other citrus-forward picks.
While we were a fan of Jumo’s other flavors (Peach, Lychee, Rose and Cucumber, Asian Pear, Perilla Leaf), our pick (Mango, Yuja, Citrus Mint) was by far the favorite and most balanced of the trio.
