22 Best Holiday & Christmas Decorations of 2025
A cheery table cloth

Designed by Swedish artist Evelina Kroon, this 100% cotton IKEA Vinterfint Tablecloth draws nostalgic inspiration from her holiday childhood memories while also experimenting with scale and proportion. We love how Kroon’s bold checkered pattern crackles with color and energy, but we especially appreciate that the tablecloth can be thrown in the washer and dryer.
A scent that says Christmas

Note: This candle is out of stock currently, but will return November 1.
This is the fifth year in a row that D.S. & Durga, one of our favorite candlemakers, has released its Portable Xmas Tree scent, and yet again it lives up to the name. A little smoky, a little spicy, it emits the perfect balance of pine, clove, and amber, with a strong enough throw that you can smell it across the room. If you’re all set on Christmas tree scents, D.S. & Durga released another holiday candle this season, Before Common Encens—so named for its attempt to recreate what incense may have smelled like in antiquity. We haven’t fact-checked the history there, but its potent blend of galbanum, myrrh, costus roots, and cassia smell nice in this era, too.
Sassy stockings

If you’ve been on less than your best behavior this year, the Jonathan Adler Naughty Embellished Stocking is a stylish way to collect your holiday stash—or dress up your mantel with wit and good cheer. Made from cotton linen with hand-stitched embroidery and beading, the stockings are not only a colorful, textural work of art, but also big and sturdy enough to hold an extra-generous Christmas-morning haul. For a more whimsical statement, Jonathan Adler also makes capsule and peacock stockings that we love just as much.
A stylish tree

Made from acacia wood limbs stacked on a black iron base, this elegantly simple Crate and Barrel Warm Acacia Tannenbaum Christmas Ornament Tree is available in three sizes: The smallest (17 inches tall) fits comfortably atop a table, the medium-sized option (25 inches tall) begs for placement beside a fireplace, and the largest (4 feet tall) can even sub in as a Christmas tree alternative. You can also group them all together to create a forest scene. Leave the branches bare and revel in its simplicity, or festoon the limbs, which can rotate, in ornaments and shimmer up the base with lights. Assembly and disassembly is easy with its included Allen wrench and a screw—plus, you can store it flat for the rest of the year.
A foldable forest

Available in several sizes and colors, the West Elm Decorative Paper Tabletop Trees look beautiful arranged on a tabletop or mantel. But our favorite thing about them is how easily they assemble and store. Hidden magnets on both ends of the folded paper snap together in seconds to make the trees three-dimensional standing objects, but then they fold back down flat enough (about half an inch thick) to slide into a filing cabinet. We love the dark green with gilt edges, but for the true minimalist, the trees also come in a very neutral beige assortment and light tonal greens. Are you more of a maximalist? They come in 3-to-7-foot versions as well.
A striking cake stand

Crow Canyon’s Splatter Cake Stand isn’t specifically designed for Christmas, but serving up gingerbread cookies on this red-and-white version (or a batch of sufganiyot dusted in sugar on the brilliant-blue-and-white one) will make your treats feel all the more festive. And you’ll likely get plenty of use out of them the rest of the year, too: These enamelware stands are dishwasher-safe, lightweight, and simply beautiful. Crow Canyon also sells a number of other serving pieces in this pattern, including spoons, salad bowls, and pitchers, among others.
An advent calendar that never gets old

As fans of advent calendars, we at Wirecutter have a whole guide dedicated to them. But unlike the ones we often recommend, the reusable Williams Sonoma Christmas Wooden Advent Calendar counts as legit decor—and one that you can pull out every Christmas at that. The hand-painted wooden house features 24 small doors to fill with whatever treat you fancy. Wirecutter VP of product Dorothy McGivney has owned hers since 2017 and has changed the fillings every year as her son’s interests have changed from those of a kindergartener to those of a middle schooler. That means the calendar’s 24 doors have, over the years, opened up to everything from standard candy to mini Funko Pops to Lego sets.
Pillow talk

Dark, cold December days turn Christmas-cozy with the right throw pillow. The 20-inch-square West Elm Tannenbaum Tree Pillow Cover features soft, fleecy recycled polyester, delicately embroidered with a Christmas tree strewn in joy-sparking bright-red ornaments. It’s machine washable and can be purchased alone or with an insert (down or down-alternative). West Elm also has various other designs in the same collection, like these textural trees and whimsical skiers.
