5 Sweaters That Would Make Truly Excellent Gifts

My husband is a toughie. No major hobbies, but he does love spending time with his family and discovering new bands. He is a scientist and spends long hours at the lab and lately has expressed interest in starting some light exercise. Thoughts? — C.G.E.

From gifting expert Samantha Schoech:

I’m making a leap here, but if he spends a lot of time in the lab, I suspect he drinks a lot of coffee or tea. If that’s the case, and to speak to the family man in him, a cute photo mug might hit the spot. And if he doesn’t use it for drinking, he can always put pens in it.

If he’s into vinyl, we really like this monthly record subscription service, which sends one to three albums a month based on his taste and willingness to branch out. If records aren’t his thing, there’s always a good pair of headphones or earbuds for his listening pleasure.

These resistance bands might encourage his exercise inclination, and they are super easy to store.

Finally, and this is another leap, but when I think of long hours in the lab, I think of back pain and muscle knots (as well as great scientific discoveries). This weird-looking massage contraption is actually superb for getting at hard-to-reach spots and relieving muscle tension.
