I Own 57 Pairs of Socks, But I Always Reach for This Pair First
These are truly everyday socks, which means I can wear them every day but not for all occasions. I don’t find them sleek enough to wear with a suit to weddings or other formal events. Though they’re breathable, they don’t have sweat-wicking properties or arch support, so I don’t reach for them when working out.
And they are decidedly not warm. Once the temperature drops below freezing, I switch to my cushy calf-length Bombas socks or one of the many pairs of thicker crew socks I’ve accumulated over the years.

They also don’t come in a true white (only an off-white and a dishwater white, which is really just gray), and as a smaller business, Big Bud Press can have stock issues. I find that the company makes up for the latter with an abundance of color options and easy-to-find restock updates. To address the former issue, I turn to Muji, which has a number of comfortable stark-white sock options for under $5.
And finally, these socks aren’t built to last. They are thin, and after two years of hard wear, toe breakthrough on my oldest white pair is imminent. Thankfully, they cost $9 — not $19 — and often go on sale, so I can stock up and rotate pairs to avoid punctures.
Since I purchased my first pair of Everyday Socks, I’ve traveled to 17 countries, picking up patterned socks with each new passport stamp. But the pair I’ve had most often on my feet, across time, space, and dozens of outfit changes, has remained the same: my trusty, go-with-everything Big Bud Press Everydays.
