The Best of CES 2026: What We’re Looking Forward to Most

Of all the smart rings we’ve seen in the last year, the Pebble Index 01 is the least “smart” — it’s a ring designed to help you dictate your thoughts, with a microphone that’s activated by a satisfying physical button. That’s it, just a discreet, one-handed way to take notes and set reminders.

I’ve already pre-ordered the Index 01. My current solution for jotting down my brilliant shower thoughts is to ask my partner to text me incomprehensible scraps of information (“dark toner” or “4 pounds, 10 ounces.”) After trying on the Index at CES, I’m hopeful it will become my new personal assistant.

The downside: The Index cannot be recharged. Pebble founder Eric Migicovsky says the Index’s battery will last about two years depending on how much you use it. But when that battery runs out, the Index becomes e-waste. Migicovsky said this was a necessary tradeoff to keep the Index sleek, waterproof, and less expensive, but when it dies, you can ship the old ring back and the company will take it apart, scrap the internal electronics, and melt down the band.

I cannot wait for mine to arrive so my partner can finally know peace.
